Programmers report in!
What are you currently working on, what are your biggest projects, is there anything you'd like to learn or are studying already, what's
the project that was most fun to you or had the biggest success?
Why do you program, what has made you pick it up or interests you about it, what are your intentions and plans for the profession or hobby?

Lots of things to discuss, loads of time to spend. GO!

Sadly, I only know how to do web stuff, so not much I can do. I can do basic iPhone app programming however.

I'm actually thinking of actually taking up learning the new things that jQuery has to offer as I have heard so many good things about it.

Anything in particular?

I don't remember it being much of a big deal. The syntax is nearly identical, you just need to learn the concept of pointers and references. C++
is not even forcing classes onto you like C# does. C++'s main function is not inside a class, unlike C#, which makes OOP pretty much optional.

The only thing i had a hard time grasping about were the whole lovely pointer/reference thing. Of course it's easy to say that a pointer is a
variable that pointers to another place on your memory, usually another variable, but how, when and why i should use this, made me not really
understanding the point of it and the concept at all.

I believe in the freedom of power, and since i feel C++ has more power, i have more freedom with.

Ah, thanks! (Belatedly.) I'd always thought that memory management would be a big deal, moving from a garbage collected environment to one where
failing to deallocate memory means a memory leak?

I think I understand pointers and references in theory, but knowing when to use them would surely take some experience, yes. I was recently working
on an image analysis algorithm that used unsafe C# code rather than the .NET GetPixel() routines because the latter were way too slow, so I got a
small taste at least.

I found this neat invention a while back and wanted to show everyone

>At home or on the go, the SupaBoy plays your favorite Super Nintendo and Super Famicom cartridges anywhere you are. Portable or home console, the
SupaBoy is the choice.

http://tymoon.eu/06hUJ

So it's basically a Super Nintendo on the go.

Find anything interesting?

I go by DJ Paladin. I usually play stuff that is inspired by or is classical/traditional musical styles. So basically, things with real instruments
or with synth real instruments but used in the style of real ones. Anyway, I tend to go on tangents and rant a bit, as I enjoy my talk portion of
the show. I'm on 7-9 PM EST or 12-2 AM GMT.

Which sites do you use to get news and information about technology and so on?
Well, except for google and wikipedia of course.

I mostly use http://slashdot.com and 4chan's /g/.

So... as you mayhaps know, I tried to do that Java tutorial on STC1.
It died pretty quickly, mainly because I just didn't know if anyone was even interested in it anymore, if I was writing alright, if anything
even worked and so on.
Generally I had too little feedback and too little time to write more.

But! I'll offer to do something similar once more.
This time however, with something less complicated.
Something everyone can do without having to understand the principles of programming, without having to install extra programs and so on.
Simply put, it's webdesign. Albeit only on the layout side, concerning with XHTML and CSS.

Now, would anyone be interested in learning some shit about this?
Because that's what's most important to me. As long as there are people interested, I'll be able to go on, because I do this shit not
for me, but for you.
And it'd be pointless if I did it for no one, right?

So again, would anyone care to read this shit and also provide some feedback?

Actually I'm interested in how this works, or rather how anything with input works on websites. Do you think you could talk about this, whenever
you find time to write the next instalment?
Probably after your exams

>>183
Well that would be going into programming, which is an entirely different deal altogether.
I am planning on extending this towards a PHP tutorial, but I'd need more time to prepare it first.

>>184
You also need to get through your exams...

The internet has a wide variety of awesome videos.
Show me some!

format.

Let's start off with some Valve awesomesauce.

The new OCremix album, Unsung Heroes is out! It is a great album whose music is fantasy based, which means a good bit of traditional instrument parts
which I for one love!

As you probably know, Stevenchan is hosted by TyNET.
However, Stevenchan isn't the only thing it offers, by far.

The main site offers a gallery, forum, blog, pms and other usual community bullshit. There's also a mail provider and more shit nobody cares
about.
But that's not what I'm going to focus on here.
I'd rather like to announce the Minecraft and Teamspeak3 servers that are running too.

So, if you like to play some Minecraft or talk with others using VOIP, simply connect with the corresponding client, using tymoon.eu as
IP/Address/Host.

Malakin, Mithent and I have been minecrafting quite a bunch yesterday and we'll try to combine that with TS3 so we can talk while playing.
If you want to join in, just do so!
